What works differently for adults

Dignity drives adoption. An adult will abandon anything childish. Cards should carry adult content — coffee preferences, opinions, the football score, "leave me alone for a bit" — in an adult voice.

Tala’s boards are fully customizable — the default child boards can be replaced entirely with adult vocabulary, personal photos, and a natural adult voice. What matters for aphasia is whole-phrase cards and simple navigation, which is exactly the design.

My father refuses "gadgets". Any advice?

Start with five cards that pay off immediately — his coffee order, yes/no, one joke. Adults adopt tools that visibly restore control. And let him approve the voice; sounding wrong is the top silent reason devices get rejected.
